We designed stationery and a logo for The Mav, a kitchen and tap house in Denver, Colorado. Their menu centers around modern American cuisine, and they offer a nice selection of craft beer. Before they spoke to us, they had been in business for 15 years, but they felt it was a time to rebrand themselves and establish a more modern identity.
We designed a logo for The Mav that gives them a contemporary yet traditional look. The circular emblem with an inner ring of dots and outer spikes reminds us of something old and well established, while the bold, simple letters provide a contemporary appearance. We used dark brown, light brown and white for contrast. This emblem suggests a medal, hence “the best” or at least quite good. It instills confidence in The Mav’s food and beer.
After creating their logo, we designed The Mav’s stationery. This stationery includes letterheads, business cards, and envelopes. We also designed some online banners, an app, and other material. For the stationery, we again used dark brown, which became the main branding color. White meshed well with the dark brown, rendering it even cleaner and more stylish.
Since the logo provides enough color for a business document, and is a fairly complex image, the letterhead is mostly white and unadorned. We wanted to make sure that everyone would see The Mav’s brand image on their business card, and that’s why their name is on both sides. On one side we added the CEO’s name and other information, while the other side bears just the main brand color and the logo. The envelopes are similar to the letterhead, and mostly white.
The online app we designed boasts the same colors and includes a description of the food and beer that The Mav offers, its location, and contact information.
